Once again The Wakefield Triathlon has been awarded The National Age Group Championships for 2008, with four qualifying places in each age group for the World Championships in 2009. The race is scheduled for Sunday the 6th July. As with the previous years race we hope Wakefield Tri Club will be well represented with competitors as well as marshals. In 2007 a number from Wakefield were competing at Olympic Distance for the first time, and there were some great times on what must be one of the toughest courses around.
Team effort
The whole weekend including registration and racking on Saturday as well as the race itself has received much praise for the excellent organisation throughout. Special thanks should go to all those Wakefield members who helped during the weekend. This included those who helped to set up registration on Friday, all the volunteers who performed various tasks on Saturday including manning the car parks and helping with the practice swim. A big thanks should go to those who got up at the crack of dawn on Sunday and marshalled the bike course, the marshalling has received much praise.
