As well as competing in local races, WTC members travel to all corners of the country to compete in various events. In this section we would like to include details of races where there will be a number of club members competing. It's always better to share the experience of a race if there are other competitors who you know, it also helps with sharing transport and accommodation.
In 2008 there are already a number of races which should be well attended by WTC members. Last year the club had the highest number of competitors at the Southwell sprint distance event near Nottingham, we are expecting a similarly good turn out this year. It goes without saying that The Wakefield Triathlon was well represented, this years event is on Sunday 6th July where we expect upwards of 50 WTC members to be competing. Other events on the Calendar which may be worth considering are The Wetherby Triathlon, The London Triathlon and the Vitruvian middle distance event.
If you fancy something a little different and a bit more challenging why not head up to the Lake District in September to compete in the Helvellyn Triathlon as many club members did last year. The event starts with a 1500m swim in Ullswater followed by a 38 mile hilly bike through beautiful hilly countryside and an 8 mile run up and down Helvellyn, which is only a few feet short off being Englands highest peak.
Let us know if there are any other events you think we should include. Details of all the events mentioned can be found via the British Triathlon website www.britishtriathlon.org
