Our response to the Government announcement today, 16th March 2020.
The Wakefield Triathlon Club Committee met this evening to discuss our response to the Covid-19 virus announcement made today.
All Club training sessions are cancelled until further notice.
This includes, Track, beginners’ runs, S&C, BKCAT, official level 2 and 3 rides, Featherstone and Sun Lane Swim. We do not run the Scissett swim sessions (they are run by KAL); the Committee suggests that members consider what was said by the Prime Minister and take their own decision on these.
We will monitor the position and will be led by Government pronouncements on when we may restart organised sessions.
Sedbergh training camp
Some of you will have paid deposits for the Sedbergh training camp. We have decided to defer the request for final payment until nearer the date of the camp. If it is cancelled (which does seem likely) all deposits will be refunded in full and members will not be out of pocket.
Winter Series events
There are three events outstanding. We have decided that none of these events will count in the Winter Series standings (we feel it would be wrong to encourage members to participate in events which would appear to be contrary to the Governments recommendations to avoid “social contact with others”). We will dream up a wacky way to finalise the standings, a way that will ensure that the Chairman wins most age groups.
Summer series events
These are scheduled to start quite soon; we will continue to monitor the position.
On behalf of the Committee
