Andy has been a member of the club for many years now – ever since, well lubricated in a pub, he and Tony Weston decided that doing an Ironman would be easy. They did it; it wasn't. He coaches the Scissett session , also coaches at BKCAT, and puts on special events, like handicap bike road race, hill climbs, swim gala, and bike maintenance.
Thornes Park & BKCAT
Tony coaches at Thornes Park and BKCAT. Over the last twenty years, he has competed at all levels of Triathlon and as a GB Age grouper. His favourite sporting pastime now is cycling, particularly the mountains across Europe. Tony also organises the club duathlons at Rabbit Ings.
As Head of Coaching Terry works with the Coach Leadership Group to oversee our coaching and ensuring the development of our coaches.
A club member since 2012 Terry can usually be found at the back of races doing his best to look like he’s enjoying it. Terry tries to show by example that you don’t need to be fast to be a triathlete.
Terry is the lead coach at Sun Lane. He also knows a lot about bikes.
Mark coaches at both Thornes track and Kettlethorpe S&C sessions and helps out at the occasional swim and bike session. He caught the triathlon bug back in 2014 and since then has gone on to compete at an age group level for GB at both triathlon and duathlon.
He is known for his killer run sessions and excessively bright trainers.
Craig was bullied into doing Blenheim triathlon as a corporate event in 2013 and was hooked! He joined the club the following year having done some open water swims and has been a member ever since. Craig started his coaching journey a couple of years ago and is now qualified to Level 2 Diploma/Personal Coach. He can usually be seen haranguing swimmers at Sun Lane where he is the lead coach and at Thornes Strength & Conditioning, as well as most other sessions if extra cover is needed. Always happy to chat with athletes, especially if cake is involved.
Elaine coaches at the Thornes Park Track sessions. She has been competing in triathlons for twelve years, her first triathlon was a ‘one-off’ to raise money for a local hospice; then she got the bug. She has competed at all the triathlon distances. Elaine enjoys races in Northumberland, going back to her roots.
Pontefract / BKCAT
Zoe coaches at Pontefract, BKCAT and Sun Lane, she has raced from super sprint to ironman and loves to challenge herself, including representing her country at the World Championships. Lives for riding her bike in the hills and the sunshine! Coaching for the last five years with the club and loves seeing people progress to achieve their goals.
Simon is passionate about developing his skills as a coach and his knowledge of every aspect of triathlon to allow him to assist as much as possible in member's journeys as athletes.
He loves group coaching and can be found loitering mainly at Pontefract swim and Thornes run sessions.
Leigh is our "token Australian" coach and is usually found pool side at our Sun Lane or Pontefract swim sessions. He has been racing triathlons since 2020 and prefers the sprint distance. Whilst Leigh loves achieving his own goals, he prefers to assist others in achieving theirs. Like Mark Mills, Leigh also has a keen interest in excessively bright trainers.
